A: Controller failure rates are very low, post-installation, well under 1% after 4 years in field. Most controller “failures” come from problems in installation, which are easily detectable before the units go in service. Subsequent “failures” on the controllers are nearly always failures on the mechanical lock (externally sourced).
For padlocks, we routinely keep incoming quality rates better than 98% and most of the issues we see are with battery levels. Early versions of the padlock were susceptible to water damage that could exceed 2%, and we have since improved the design to eliminate this problem. All future padlocks should have fewer than 2% failure rates.
